Appoint a Captain; someone on-site with authority to make sure personnel meet the objectives that have been set.
Since over 60% of literature dispensed is thrown away, you may consider offering to mail product information. Your literature will have far more impact if it lands on a prospect’s desk immediately afterward.
Here are some basic rules to follow when in the booth:
Do:
- Smile
- Relax
- Make eye contact
- Use firm handshake
- Rehearse opening line
- Ask open ended questions
- Look for buying signals
- Be a good listener and observant
- Be positive
- Remember your objectives
Don’t:
- Fold your arms
- Ignore or neglect a visitor
- Spend too much time with any one visitor
- Drink or eat (unless entertaining)
- Smoke
- Take cell phone calls
- Use company or industry jargon
